My Little Claddagh Ring

I'm looking for the lyrics, and hopefully lyrics, to "My Little Claddagh Ring." Any assistance anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated. I plan on singing this song to my wife when we celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary this year!

hanks,

Hi Tom,

Could it be one of these that you're looking for?

The Little Claddagh Ring

I am looking back across the years, what memories they do bring
Of all the hopes and of all the fears like swallows on the wing
If I were but a poet, what a story I could sing
Of all the things encircled in a little Claddagh ring

A wedding ring you gave to me those many years ago
I marked the day in old Galway with warmth all aglow
A priest himself he blessed it dear with happiness to bring
Was everyone as proud as I to wear the Claddagh ring

The hands are there for friendship and the heart is there for love
For loyalty throughout the years the crown is raised above
They gathered all together in a very precious thing
My little bit of Ireland, my little Claddagh ring

It's getting old and shiny now along with all the years
It's shared with me the sunshine and has oft times felt my tears
But when for me the hour has come to meet my Lord the king
I hope He'll give me welcome with my little Calddagh ring

The Claddagh Ring

It being a fine morning, this young man he chose
That he'd make occasion to wear his fine clothes

And it's down to the glen where the bonnie lassie goes
To give her a token of his love, we suppose

"Mary, oh Mary, if I could be your man
Between you and danger I fearlessly would stand

With this gold claddagh ring on your lily-white hand
Oh, there ne'er was another would dress you so grand"

There's no sun in summer there's no flowers in spring
Her hands hold my heart like the gold claddagh ring

"Johnny, oh Johnny the ring it is of gold
And it's hands and fine heart, they are lovely to behold

But if I had the ring for one evening to hold
Then you shall have my answer e'er the week shall be old"

"Oh why have the weeks gone and not an answer came?
And why is it that women are smarter than men?

Oh the girl's kept the ring which I shall ne'er see again
Oh, she has many like it in a fine box at hame"

There's no sun in summer there's no flowers in spring
Her hands hold my heart like the gold claddagh ring

It being a fine morning, this young man he chose
That he'd make occasion to wear his fine clothes

And it's down to the glen where the bonnie lassie goes
To give her a token of his love, we suppose

There's no sun in summer there's no flowers in spring
Her hands hold my heart like the gold claddagh rin
Oh, her hands hold my heart like the gold claddagh ring

The Old Claddagh Ring

The Old Claddagh Ring, it was my grandmother's
She wore it a lifetime, and gave it to me
All through the long years, she wore it so proudly
It was made where the Claddagh rolls down to the sea
What tales it could tell, of trials and of hardship
And of grand happy days, when the whole world did sing
So away with your sorrow, it will bring luck tomorrow
Sure everyone loves it, the Old Claddagh Ring

With the crown and the crest, to remind us of honour
And clasping the heart that God's blessing would bring
A circle of gold, always kept homes contented
With true love entwined in the Old Claddagh Ring
As she knelt at her prayers and thought of the dear ones
Her soft gentle smile, it would charm a king
On her worn hand, as she told me her story
You could see the bright glint of the Old Claddagh Ring

It was her gift to me, and it made me so happy
With this on my finger, my heart beats would ring
No king on his throne could be half so happy
As I am when wearing my Old Claddagh Ring
When the angels above call me up to heaven
In the heart of the Claddagh, their voices will sing
"Away with your sorrows, you'll be with us tomorrow
Be sure and bring with you, the Old Claddagh Ring"

Good Luck with your anniversary!

Pete
