My grandmother hailed from County Cork and used to sing "A Poor Maiden" all the time... not sure if that is the title. Went "there was a poor maiden with newspapers laden, trying her best not to cry..." They ended up in front of a judge... "she's not my mother, but I have no other, she found me one day at her door."
